RESERVES had a thrilling win this afternoon. After trailing for most of the day, they came home strongly to win by 8 points: 7.8.50 to Carrum Patterson Lakes 6.6.42. We welcomed Scott Kaiser for his first game, kicking 2 goals and adding drive around the midfield. We also welcomed back Declan Hicks after being out for weeks with injury. The Rizzi twins played together for the first time and gained a heap of possessions!! CONGRATULAIONS on a stunning and well deserve

THE WOMEN’s team played it’s first game under lights last night! To add to this new challenge, it was very cold and very wet with a muddy, slippery ground making conditions difficult. However, not to be denied, they slogged out a hard fought win to take the points, 1.9.15 to Bentleigh 1.1.7. We had most of the play for the night but only scored one goal when Grace Bibby claimed a snap shot during the first quarter. CONGRATULATIONS girls, a well deserved win, consolidating 3rd position on the SFNL ladder!!

U/19s

Murrumbeena FNC under-19s gained their third captain for the year with Jacob McLean succeeding for at least one day Jordan Tranter who replaced Pat Burrows weeks ago. The young Lions played Bentleigh Blue, and may have created a trivia question for future parties. Which team in 2022 kicked the first two goals of a game but not another while the opposition kicked 20? Surely, a strange one. Bentleigh Blue defeated Murrumbeena 20.13 to 2.10. But ours was a swashbuckling opening. Upgraded under-17 players again gave strong support to their older Beena brothers.

NETBALL

In cool, slippery conditions it was back to watch Beena Netball as 2022 NAIDOC Round was celebrated at MFNC this weekend, our senior netball team wore specially designed A-line dresses made for the special occasion. It was great to see our President in attendance giving a pregame address to all the players.
