November 9 was revealed as the cut-off date for senior players to commit to Murrumbeena Football Netball Club as new coach Justin Wenke hosted an all-in-together Zoom address for players, officials, fans and community members last night (Wednesday, October 28).
Players committing or opting out by notifying football operations manager Rohan White before the deadline will allow the club to shape its lists, recruiting, training and programs.
Justin, a successful NAB League under-19s coach, told more than 40 people tuned in to Zoom the club wanted to start pre-season training in mid to late November. He also wanted two-kilometre time trials before and after Christmas.
Justin told his audience he wanted to develop a game plan across all the club’s footy teams and he committed to training drills aligned with the way the Lions were to play.
Justin said he hoped for “greens” – players who could accept feedback to improve themselves and the club.
He called for all club participants – committee members, supporters, male and female footballers and netballers – to strive to be the best they could in their roles for the club .
An ultimate goal was to lift MFNC from division 2 to division 1 in the Southern Football Netball League.
